Mountain weather is always unpredictable. A 70 degree, sunny day can turn into a tumultuous storm complete with wind, rain and snow in a minute. It pays to always be prepared for cooler weather while enjoying the open blue sky and sunny days that have come to make West Yellowstone such a great place to visit. Even in the heart of summer, mornings can be chilly, averaging around 50 degrees. Many layers of clothes help keep you comfortable all day. As the day wears on the temperatures rise into the 70s and 80s in July or August. In wintertime, the same rules apply, only thicker, warmer layers are paramount. You should also have a water resistant, windproof outer layer. In fall and spring, crisp mornings are frequently followed by cool, brilliant days.
