Born in the past to ease the cowboys' boredom, today's rodeos are pure excitement! Bareback Riding, Team Roping, Saddle Bronc Riding, Breakaway Roping and Bull Riding are just some of the scheduled events. Performances begin at 6:00 pm each night and will be held at the Rodeo arena behind the Town Offices, just off Yellowstone Avenue. Join in the fun!!

Named one of the top thirteen most scenic race courses in the country, this relaxed event, a celebration of summer, has 6 and 10k opportunities for adults and a kids' race, too. A festival atmosphere prevails as walkers and runners from all over the area gather. The traffic-free route winds its way into the National Forest along the Rendezvous Trail System. T-shirts, fruit and thirst quenchers are all included.

| 8/2/07 - 5/07 | 36th Annual Yellowstone Rod Run
Now in its 37th year, the Yellowstone Rod Run annually draws five to seven hundred street rods from all over the States. Cruises, barbecues and various competitions are available to registrants. Saturday's Parade of Rods on Canyon Street is an event highlight. The Show & Shine in City Park, where a festival atmosphere prevails, is also on Saturday and is open and free to the public. | 8/3/07 - 12/07 | 2nd Annual Smoking Waters Rendezvous
Living History and Trader's Row are the core of this opportunity to experience the West and its people. Demonstrations of carding and spinning wool, making butter and leather workings; seminars on Native American culture and the Fur Trade era; entertainment and competitions such as Cowboy Poetry, Storytelling, Black Powder Shoot, and Knife and Tomahawk Throws are all part of the the ten-day mix. The encampment will be set up on the West side of town.

Spam Cup Cross-Country Ski Races draws ages 5 to 80 and often includes former Olympians, top NCAA skiers as well as World Masters Champions. These fun events don’t accept race-day registrations.

A terrific end and beginning for snowmobilers! The Expo culminates a year of Sno-Cross racing for many Rocky Mountain competitors with four days of racing thrills. Snowmobile manufacturers and after-market companies strut their 2009 stuff at the exposition hall. Nighttime activities include a "Funny-Money" Casino night, live entertainment and plenty of laughs. Plan now to attend!

| TBA | Yellowstone Rendezvous Marathon Ski Race
Held on the world-class Rendezvous Ski Trails, this event draws hundreds of cross-country skiers. With the blast of a black powder cannon, racers sprint out to compete in a variety of age classes and distances in both classic and freestyle of up to 50K. With grooming provided by Yellowstone Track Systems, this is arguably the best track to be found all year. The camaraderie and festive atmosphere have kept this an annual event for more than 20 years.

Only for kids and sponsored by the West Yellowstone Ski Education Foundation. The Youth Festival is an opportunity for our future Olympians, World Cup Skiers and National Masters competitors to participate in an event that is just for them. Typically, youth from ages 3 to 15 participate in a series of fun events such as an obstacle course, matched sprints, relay and speed trap. Bicycle in Yellowstone for free and before the Park is open to public automobiles or buses. It's a perfect way to spend a day. From West Yellowstone you can ride to Madison Junction and then to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone or Mammoth Hot Springs (the road between Madison and Old Faithful remains closed to all until April 18 and no services are available in the park).

This day commemorates the arrival in West Yellowstone of the first Union Pacific passenger train filled with Yellowstone bound tourists in 1908. Centered around the historic Union Pacific Dining Hall, folks can deck out in period costumes, listen to speakers, visit exhibits and enjoy a variety of food.

A unique group of artists will be joining the Grizzly Discovery Center for the annual Wildlife Art Days from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm each day. A percentage of all art sold during that time is generously being donated to the Center. The normal entry fee of the Center covers the Wildlife Art Days as well.

Yellowstone Historic Center
This annual event will include an exhibition and symposium on camping in Yellowstone from the 1860's until now. Speakers, displays, information and a cook-out are planned. Stagecoaches, wagons, carts and other historic modes of transportation will be on display both days.
